A motorcycle upgrade courses

Upgrade from A1 or A2

You can upgrade your A2 licence to an A licence if you are at least 20 years old and you have had a valid A2 licence for at least two years.

To upgrade directly from A1 to A, you must be 24 years old and pass the entire driving examination (theory, handling and driving test).

If you do not have any motorcycle licence and you want to obtain an A licence, check the A motorcycle courses here.

There are three ways to upgrade to an A licence

Option  1

5 + 2 hours of lessons at the driving school (upgrade from A2)

Complete five hours of driving lessons and two theory lessons at the driving school. We will provide you with a certificate of driver training that you can attach to your driving licence permit application submitted to Ajovarma.

With this option, you do not need to pass any driving or theory tests.

Option  2

Pass the handling and driving tests (upgrade from A2)

With this option, you do not need to complete any mandatory lessons at the driving school. You only need to apply for a driving licence permit from Ajovarma and pass the A2 licence handling and driving test.

Even with this option, we recommend one or two hours of driving lessons at the driving school as preparation. Our Examination upgrade package includes two hours of driving lessons and the use of the driving school’s motorcycle and driving equipment in the driving test.

Option  3

Complete the entire driving examination (upgrade from A1)

To upgrade directly from A1 to A, you must be 24 years old and pass the entire driving examination (theory, handling and driving test).

You do not have to complete any compulsory instruction at driving school. However, we recommend one or two hours of driving lessons at the driving school as preparation. Our Examination upgrade package includes two hours of driving lessons and the use of the driving school’s motorcycle and driving equipment in the driving test.
