Light quadricycle course instruction process
1. Sign up for our light quadricycle course
Sign up for a suitable moped car course easily on our website or with the help of our customer service.
You will receive instructions and login details for the learning environment by email no later than the next day. After you sign up, we will contact you and go through the basic procedures and how the course progresses. Right after signing up, we recommend installing the CAP-Autokoulu app on your phone. The CAP app will guide you through the course.
We recommend starting the theory studies and preparing for the theory test immediately after signing up for the course. The theory test is taken before starting the driving lessons. The driving test is booked through the driving school after you have passed the theory test.
2. Apply for a driving licence permit
A driving licence permit is required for obtaining a driving licence, and it is issued by Traficom. The application is submitted at an Ajovarma service point, which is Traficom’s service provider. Under certain conditions, you can also apply online via Traficom’s service. Check the conditions and access Traficom’s online service here.
If you do not have a previous driving licence or a photo ID, you must provide two passport photos as attachments to the application (digital photos cannot be used for a paper application) – generally, no other attachments are required. If you have a previous driving licence, your handwritten signature is sufficient for the application. This is a good time to update the photo on your driving licence.
Talk to your doctor about the need for a medical certificate if you have or have had any diseases, injuries or symptoms that affect your fitness to drive.
We recommend submitting the permit application at the beginning of the course. You can start driving instruction even before applying for the permit, but you will need the permit to book the theory test.
You can apply for the driving licence permit at the earliest at the age of 14, and it is valid for three years.
3. Start theory lessons right away
The moped car course always starts with theory instruction. Online lessons are delivered in Finnish and subtitled in English.
All theory lessons are completed remotely as online training. Log in to the learning environment using the credentials we will always send you no later than the day after you sign up. In the learning environment, you can also practise for the theory test. In the learning environment, you can complete self-study assignments, read the textbook, and practise for the theory test.
The moped car course includes the four-hour EAS training (First Driving Licence Course). You do not need to complete the EAS training if you already have a previous driving licence.
We offer a free support lesson for the theory test. You can find more information in the CAP app or on the homepage of the Webauto learning environment.
4. Take the theory test
The theory test is taken at an Ajovarma service point, an examination provider authorised by Traficom.
Before the theory test, you must have applied for a driving licence permit and completed the four-hour EAS training included in the theory lessons (if you do not have a previous driving licence). The EAS training certificate is delivered to Ajovarma electronically, so you do not need to bring a paper copy. However, we recommend bringing the certificate with you in electronic form. You can download the EAS certificate from your learning environment.
You can book the theory test yourself through Ajovarma’s booking service. You can find our driving school in the booking service under the name CAP-Group Oy. Once you have successfully passed the theory test, inform your local office. You can find the contact details for the offices here. This way, we know to book the driving lessons and the handling test immediately after the approved theory test. The handling test appointment is always booked through the driving school. Moped car driving test bookings are always made through the driving school. Please note that moped car driving lessons or the driving test cannot be booked through the national customer service.
You can take the theory test at the earliest one month before you turn 15.
You can request the guardian’s consent form from the office or Ajovarma, or print it yourself. Ask at least one guardian to fill in the form.
You must bring a photo ID, the guardian’s consent form (consent from at least one guardian), and the EAS certificate (available in the student’s learning platform) to the theory test. The theory test fee can be paid either via the booking payment link sent to your email or on site when you arrive for the test.
5. Driving instruction begins
If the moped car course you have chosen includes optional driving instruction, you can complete it once you have successfully passed the theory test. Inform the driving school as soon as you have passed the theory test. Taking part in driving lessons requires that you have turned 15.
Driving instruction is always planned according to the course you have chosen. The amount of driving instruction can be supplemented with additional driving lessons as needed. Our professional instructors will support you throughout your learning.
Not all locations have a moped car available. If you have your own moped car or quadricycle, you can purchase driving lessons at almost all of our locations.
6. Pass the driving test and congratulate yourself on your new driving licence
Just like the theory test, the driving test is taken at an Ajovarma service point.
The driving test appointment is always booked through the driving school!
You can take the driving test once you have passed the theory test, completed the driving lessons included in your course, and reached the age of 15.
Please note that the driving examination takes place in traffic and you are the responsible driver. You should only take the driving test when you really feel that you are ready for it. Learning traffic skills is individual, and the feedback you get from your driving instructor is a valuable indicator of whether you may need more practice before taking the driving test.
Bring to the test:
- Valid photo ID
- E100 form (certificate of driving instruction received) from the driving school.
- Make sure that you have paid for the driving test via the payment link you received at the time of booking. If the payment has been made well in advance, you do not need to bring a receipt.
The instructor will take care of the certificate when you go to the driving test, if your course has included driving lessons. If you bring the certificate yourself, you can print the form here.
After a passed test, you will receive a temporary driving licence. The final driving licence will arrive later by post.
Now you are ready to continue learning safe driving independently. You can still contact the driving school if you feel that you need more driving instruction, for example after a long pause or if you want additional confidence in some aspect of driving.
