Passenger car course instruction process
1. Sign up for our passenger car course
Sign up for a passenger car course. After this, we will contact you to schedule the driving lessons together.
2. Apply for a driving licence permit
To obtain a driving licence, a driving licence permit is required, which is issued by Traficom. The minimum age for receiving a permit is 16. The permit is valid for three years. Driving licence permit applications are processed by Traficom’s service provider Ajovarma. If you don’t have a previous driving licence, you must submit two passport photos as an attachment to the permit application – other attachments are usually not needed. Discuss the need for a medical certificate with your physician if you have or have previously had any illnesses, injuries or symptoms affecting your fitness to drive. If you have a previous driving licence, your own signature is sufficient for the driving licence permit application. However, this is a good time to update the photo on your driving licence.
You can apply for a driving licence permit easily at your local Ajovarma office. You need a valid driving licence permit to book a theory test. Be sure to apply for the permit in good time.A driving licence permit application can also be submitted conveniently in the Traficom online service under certain conditions. Check the terms and conditions and access Traficom’s online service here.
3. Start theory lessons right away
Helping our learners to become safe drivers also plays a major role in our driving instruction. That’s why we offer, in addition to the legal minimum requirement, a range of packages from which you can select a suitable number of lessons. All our passenger car courses include a 4-hour safety training, which serves as the official start of the course.
Driving school always kicks off with theory studies. After signing up, you will receive your credentials to our e-learning environment, and you can start your theory studies right away.
4. Take the theory test
You can book the theory test yourself from Ajovarma, but please note that the driving school will not be informed of this separately, and therefore cannot book a driving test or the remaining driving lessons immediately after an approved theory test.
You can take the theory test at your nearest examination location (Ajovarma Oy). You can take the theory test no earlier than one month before your 18th birthday. You must apply for a driving licence permit and complete the 4-hour safety training before taking the theory test. CAP Driving School recommends that you participate in the theory part of the risk recognition training and take 2 driving lessons before the theory test. Take a photo ID with you to the theory test, and be prepared to pay for your theory test.
5. Driving instruction begins
You can start driving instruction after you have completed the 4-hour safety training. In addition, we recommend that you successfully complete the first level of the theoretical studies in your digital learning environment.
Driving instruction is always designed on the basis of the package selected by the learner and customised during the first driving lesson. Driving lessons can also be booked via the learning environment. Our professional instructors take care of your instruction!
6. Pass the driving test and congratulate yourself on your new driving licence
As with the theory test, the driving test is taken at an examination office (Ajovarma Oy). You can take the driving test after you have passed the theory test, completed the driving lessons included in your package and turned 18. The driving test is designed to determine whether the candidate can identify risk factors and assess risks and their own actions and their impact on safety in traffic.
Take the following with you to the driving test;
- an acceptable form of ID
- the E100 form (certificate of driving instruction received) and risk recognition training certificate from the driving school
- The certificates for a B course student are taken care of by the instructor on departure for the driving test.
- Make sure you have paid for the driving test through the payment link you received at the time of booking.
- You do not need a receipt with you unless the payment was made very recently.
If you pass the test, you will get a temporary driving licence. Your final driving licence will be sent to you later in the mail.
