Driving a category L7e-A or L7e-B vehicle requires a passenger car licence (B). Category A1 and B licences also include the right to drive category T vehicles.

Obtaining the right to drive an all-terrain vehicle, tractor or snowmobile starts with completing the EAS training intended for people obtaining their first driving licence. Online lessons are spoken in Finnish and subtitled in English. After this, you must pass a category T or AM121 driving examination, depending on the vehicle category of the all-terrain vehicle or tractor. The required driving licence category depends on the category of the all-terrain vehicle or tractor displayed on the registration certificate. For a snowmobile, you always need a category T licence.

T licence = tractor licence and AM121 licence = light quadricycle licence. This means that there is no separate all-terrain vehicle licence.

Do you need driving lessons?

Obtaining a category T or AM121 licence does not require mandatory driving lessons at a driving school. Only the theory lessons of EAS training are mandatory, and they are conducted online. Online lessons are spoken in Finnish and subtitled in English.

However, we recommend that students obtaining a category AM121 licence, for a light quadricycle, purchase a few voluntary driving lessons. The driving test for a light quadricycle licence is performed in actual traffic, so passing the driving test without previous driving practice in traffic can be quite challenging. In addition, driving lessons significantly increase the likelihood of passing the driving test at the first attempt.

At the moment, CAP Driving School does not offer driving lessons for vehicles classified as all-terrain vehicles.
