Frequently asked questions

In which language can driving and theory lessons be completed?

Depending on the location, our courses can be completed in Finnish, English, and Swedish. Learning materials are also available in these languages. The online lessons are taught in Finnish and subtitled in English or Swedish.

You can find the teaching languages of the locations by opening the individual location’s page.

If needed, you may also use an interpreter at your own expense to assist with your studies.

Theory and Driving Test at Ajovarma

If the applicant’s native language is not Finnish, Swedish, or English and they are not proficient in any of these languages, or if the applicant is deaf and their native language is sign language, an interpreter may be used for the theory test if necessary.

The interpreter must be a trained professional. The qualification must be proven with a certificate issued by an educational institution (university, polytechnic, or vocational school) no later than at the time of the theory test. Other documents, such as an employment certificate, are not sufficient to prove qualifications.

Alternatively, the interpreter’s details must be available in an official registry, such as the SKTL translator and interpreter search service or the National Board of Education’s legal interpreter registry. If there is uncertainty about the interpreter’s qualifications, ensure the validity of the qualification well in advance. If the interpreter’s qualifications cannot be verified, the test cannot be taken. The customer is responsible for the costs associated with hiring the interpreter.

If you require an interpreter for the theory test, book the test by calling Ajovarma’s customer service.
