What driving license can I use to drive an ATV?

The driving license category depends on the vehicle class of the ATV.

You can find your ATV’s class information on the vehicle registration extract.

Some ATVs are classified as tractors, in which case you will need a T-class driving license. T1a and T1b class tractor ATVs: The maximum permitted structural speed of the vehicle is up to 60 km/h. T3a class tractor ATVs: The maximum permitted structural speed of the vehicle is up to 40 km/h.

Certain ATVs require a moped car license, i.e., AM121 driving license. L6e-A class light road ATV: The maximum permitted structural speed of the vehicle is 45 km/h. T3b class tractor ATVs: The structural speed of the vehicle is over 40 km/h, but a maximum of 60 km/h. T3a class tractor ATVs: T3a class vehicles can be driven with both T-class and AM121 class driving licenses.

An ATV may even require a B driving license, i.e., a passenger car license.L7e-A class road ATV.L7e-B class off-road
