BE-License

You need a BE license when towing vehicle combinations with a total mass exceeding 3,500 kg and a trailer weighing 750-3,500 kg.

Obtaining a BE license requires passing both a theory and driving test. Driving lessons at a driving school are not mandatory but highly recommended. Depending on the location, you can complete the BE course driving lessons with your own car or the driving school’s car. However, the BE-class trailer used for driving lessons is always provided by the driving school.

With a category BE driving licence a person is entitled to drive a vehicle combination where the towing vehicle is a passenger car or van and the total mass of the towed vehicle does not exceed 3,500 kg (category O2). In this case, the total mass of the vehicle combination can be a maximum of 3,500 + 3,500 = 7,000 kg.

Obtaining a BE category driving license requires applying for a driver’s license permit from Ajovarma/Traficom. The BE category driving licence test includes a theory test, a handling test, and a driving test.
