What happens on a Sure Driver motorcycle upgrade course

These instructions apply to the Varma upgrade course, where the licence category is upgraded from category A1 to category A2 or from category A2 to category A, so that the student does not need to take a driving examination.

1. Sign up for the Varma upgrade course

Sign up for the category A2 Varma upgrade course or the category A Varma upgrade course easily on our website or with the help of our customer service.

You will receive instructions and login details for the learning environment by email no later than the next day. After you sign up, we will contact you and go through the basic procedures for progressing through the course.

2. Complete the online theory lessons

In the Varma upgrade course, you will complete two online theory lessons.

Both theory lessons are completed remotely as online training. Log in to the learning environment with your credentials, which you will receive by email after registering, and complete the theory lessons.

3. Taking your driving lessons

We will contact you before the driving lessons begin and agree on the lesson schedule. If you want to complete the driving lessons as quickly as possible, you can book the lessons yourself by calling your local office or your instructor.

The driving lessons are primarily arranged in one day or within the shortest possible time.

Usually, our locations have the motorcycles and riding gear needed for instruction available.

4. You will receive a certificate of completed instruction

After the driving lessons, you will receive a certificate of completed instruction from the driving school. This certificate is attached to the driving licence permit application.

5. Book an appointment at Ajovarma for the driving licence permit application

Once you have completed the upgrade course, book an appointment at an Ajovarma service point to submit the driving licence permit application. Bring the certificate of completed instruction you received. Please note that in connection with the upgrade course, the driving licence permit application cannot be submitted online via Traficom – it must always be submitted as a paper application at an Ajovarma service point after the course has ended.
